Ettore Mo is one of the most famous italian war correspondent. Despite his 80 years, I saw him running up a stair to challenge somebody who wanted to help him. He is from Dagnente a small village close to Arona, my town. I have always been seeing him around my town but I never dared to talk with him. He started being a journalist in his 30s after having worked as a barman, improvised french teacher in spain, steward and nurse… since then he covered all the major conflicts. Legendary was his friendship with Massoud, the Lion of the Panshir.
The fact he started quite late leaves me some hope, as he said: “If you feel you are a journalist, there is nothing else you can do about it, you have to do it.”
