Before I visited London during the last summer I always thought that is not a city for bicycles. I was wrong.
During last 10 years, especially under the previous mayor Ken Livingstone, London witnessed a renaissance of cycling as a mean of transport. Londoners rediscovered that cycling is faster, cheaper and healthier than any other mean of transport.
What is interesting is the whole new culture which turn around bicycling, with all its multicolored niches either as bicycles (eg. fixies, single speed, folding bikes) or people (businessman, students, …). Everyday in the morning and in the afternoon they invade the streets and they meet side by side at the traffic lights, racing for who will arrive faster at work/home.
